McLaren has officially secured consecutive Formula 1 constructors’ championships in a record-equaling manner by clinching the title with six races remaining in the 2025 season, matching Red Bull’s achievement. Throughout the season, McLaren has been dominant, entering the Singapore Grand Prix with a commanding 333-point lead over Mercedes. The team needed just 13 points to secure the championship, which meant that placing one driver on the podium would be sufficient.
During the Grand Prix, McLaren’s Lando Norris outperformed his teammate Oscar Piastri, finishing in third place while Piastri came in fourth. This combined effort earned McLaren 27 points, ensuring their lead over Mercedes was insurmountable. Despite George Russell’s victory and Kimi Antonelli’s strong performance, McLaren’s consistent performance sealed the championship.
Following the race, Norris expressed his joy over the radio, congratulating the team on their hard work and expressing pride in being part of the successful campaign. This victory marks McLaren’s 10th constructors’ championship in Formula 1 history, elevating them to second place on the all-time list, surpassing Williams’ nine titles. Ferrari remains the most successful team in the World Championship era with 17 titles.
McLaren, as defending champions from the previous season, secured their first title since 1999 by defeating Ferrari in 2024. Team principal Andrea Stella, who found the 2024 victory surprising and joyful, described the 2025 triumph as a result of recognizing the car’s competitiveness early in the season and focusing on maximizing their potential.
Looking ahead, McLaren has the opportunity to challenge the all-time points record set by Red Bull in 2023. Stella emphasized the importance of taking each race as it comes, focusing on maximizing performance at every stage rather than fixating on breaking records.
