A 30-year-old married teacher has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for engaging in sexual activities with students in exchange for money, drugs, and alcohol. Carissa Jane Smith was found guilty of offering students $100 or more for sexual favors, either in cash or through CashApp. Additionally, she is accused of providing alcohol and marijuana to the minors. Smith, a former substitute teacher, was apprehended in November last year on 19 charges, including statutory rape and child sex trafficking, to which she pleaded guilty in September after a series of shocking revelations surfaced in court.

Court proceedings revealed disturbing incidents, such as a student alleging that Smith coerced him to ejaculate inside her and another instance where she reportedly destroyed a student’s phone upon discovering a video of her engaging in oral sex. In a separate incident, a student was reportedly lured to Smith’s residence by a classmate under the pretense of earning money, while the friend waited outside during the abuse.

Furthermore, it was disclosed that Smith’s husband intimidated a student with a baseball bat after being informed by Smith that she was being extorted with a video showing them smoking marijuana. One victim disclosed that the illicit activities commenced in August 2023 when he was in middle school and Smith was substituting for his class. Police documents indicated that Smith shared her Snapchat username with students, sending them explicit photos of herself.

Law enforcement officers revealed that Smith engaged in sexual acts with students at her home and various other locations, including gravel roads, on multiple occasions over a year. The Dixon School District condemned Smith’s actions as “disturbing and distressing” in a public statement.
