A new option has emerged for households seeking to enjoy television content without the burden of monthly fees. Freely, which made its debut in 2024, initially provided access to live channels through a broadband connection solely on select new TVs. However, the availability of Freely has expanded over the past 18 months, with major manufacturers like Hisense, Toshiba, and Sharp incorporating the service into their range of screens. Previously, individuals interested in accessing live and on-demand content through Freely had to purchase a new television set.
Fortunately, a recent development by Manhattan’s technology team has introduced a new Freely-powered set-top box named Aero 4K. This innovative device grants instant access to over 60 live channels and on-demand content at no cost and without the need for a pricey subscription.
The Aero 4K device boasts several additional features, including voice search functionality, personalized viewing recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live programming. Subscribers to platforms like Disney+ and Netflix can also access these apps through the device.
Priced competitively at £69.99, the Aero 4K has gained significant popularity. Currys has become the first UK retailer to offer the Manhattan Aero 4K, and the product is currently sold out. However, Currys has confirmed that it will restock the device soon.
Interested buyers can sign up on the Currys website to receive alerts when the product becomes available again. Furthermore, it is anticipated that other retailers such as Amazon and John Lewis will also start offering the Aero 4K in the near future.
Upon its return to stock, the Aero 4K will face competition from devices like Virgin’s Stream box and Sky Stream, all of which eliminate the need for traditional aerials or dishes by streaming content over the internet instead.
Transitioning to streaming services presents various advantages, such as simplified installation processes without requiring professional assistance and more frequent software updates.
The television landscape is evolving rapidly, with Freely reporting a user base exceeding one million. This number is expected to rise as more individuals abandon conventional viewing methods in favor of streaming services.
