A Middlesbrough man, Connor Wright, has been given an extended prison term for sexually assaulting children. Police discovered videos of him abusing children during a raid on his home, where his identifiable tattoo was visible. Wright tried to normalize his despicable actions by showing victims cartoon characters engaging in sexual acts and threatening them with prison if they spoke out.
Wright pleaded guilty to 25 child sex offenses, including child rape, voyeurism, and causing children to engage in sexual activities. Prosecutors revealed that indecent images and prohibited content were found on his electronic devices. Videos showing Wright abusing children were also uncovered by authorities.
During the court proceedings, a victim’s mother shared the lasting trauma her child endured, condemning Wright as a “monster.” In his defense, Wright expressed remorse to his probation officer, admitting his behavior was inexcusable.
Judge Joanne Kidd criticized Wright for using computer-generated images to manipulate and normalize sexual abuse for his victims. She highlighted the premeditated nature of his actions and the significant harm caused. Wright received a 23-year extended sentence, with 18 years in prison and five years on extended license.
A restraining order prohibits Wright from contacting any victims, and he will be on the sex offenders’ register for life. Detective Constable Victoria Brown praised the joint efforts of law enforcement in bringing Wright to justice and emphasized the commitment to pursuing offenders of child sexual abuse to protect vulnerable individuals.
