Lewis Hamilton expressed disappointment in his performance and suggested that Ferrari might benefit from a driver change following a challenging qualifying session for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton, who will start 12th on the grid after failing to make the top 10, admitted feeling inadequate compared to his teammate’s success in securing Ferrari’s first pole position of the season.

In contrast, Charles Leclerc, despite previously considering the Hungaroring as his least favorite circuit, delivered an exceptional qualifying lap to claim pole position, outpacing the dominant McLaren cars of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Leclerc’s unexpected pole position victory left him elated, showcasing his impressive performance on the track.

Meanwhile, McLaren’s internal competition saw Piastri outperforming Norris, securing a front-row position alongside Leclerc. This result sets the stage for a competitive race on Sunday, with Piastri aiming to extend his championship lead over Norris. The upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix marks a crucial point in the season before the summer break, with the next race scheduled for the end of August at the Dutch Grand Prix.

As the grid takes shape for Sunday’s race, George Russell claimed the fourth spot alongside Norris, while Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso leads teammate Lance Stroll from the third row. The improved performance of the Aston Martin cars compared to the previous race at Spa-Francorchamps indicates a positive turnaround for the team.
