David Lammy criticized Nigel Farage’s concept of patriotism as cheap and detrimental to Britain’s well-being. The Deputy PM condemned Farage’s proposal to revoke indefinite leave to remain, labeling it as racist. During the Labour Party Conference, Lammy emphasized that Farage’s policies do not align with British values despite his attempts to associate himself with the national flag.

Lammy denounced the plan to deport individuals with indefinite leave to remain from diverse backgrounds as racist and called for rejecting such actions. He emphasized the importance of fostering genuine patriotism that uplifts society instead of succumbing to superficial nationalism that harms the country.

Furthermore, Lammy encouraged the Labour Party to draw inspiration from progressive parties worldwide that have achieved success against odds. He cited examples from Australia, Canada, and Norway where progressive movements triumphed by staying true to their values even when facing significant challenges.

The Reform UK’s proposal to eliminate Indefinite Leave to Remain could endanger the residency of hundreds of thousands of individuals in the UK if implemented. Keir Starmer also criticized Farage’s plans, warning that they could divide communities and emphasized the need to stand against such policies during the Labour conference.

The critique of Farage’s immigration policy has sparked debates and concerns over its potential impact on the UK’s social fabric and international reputation.
