While many families are enjoying their summer break, the Labour government, under my leadership as Prime Minister, is actively working to ensure that every child receives a strong foundation for their future. Investing in our youth has shown positive results, such as expanding free school meals to children in Essex and providing music lessons in Milton Keynes to introduce new skills and interests. Our focus is on equipping every child for success, recognizing the challenges faced by parents due to financial constraints and balancing various responsibilities.
Our government is committed to supporting young families, and this autumn marks the launch of our Best Start In Life campaign. This initiative aims to enhance children’s learning opportunities and offer much-needed assistance to hardworking families. By introducing measures like 30 free hours of childcare per week for children up to school age, we aim to alleviate financial burdens on parents, enabling them to save money and have more time for themselves and their families.
In addition to the childcare support, we are introducing free breakfast clubs for primary school children, expanding free school meal programs for families on universal credit, and minimizing the need for expensive school items. Furthermore, we are allocating £88 million for extracurricular activities like art and music, promoting children’s overall development and well-being.
Our comprehensive Best Start In Life plan ensures that every child receives a quality education, access to essential resources, and opportunities to explore their interests and talents. We are dedicated to creating a brighter future for all children and families, focusing on tangible changes that positively impact lives. Our commitment to national renewal and economic development includes investment in crucial infrastructure, skills training, and employment opportunities to benefit working individuals across the country.
