Missing Madeleine McCann’s mother, Kate, is scheduled to testify today in the trial of two women accused of stalking the McCann family. This marks day three of the trial at Leicester Crown Court. The court heard that Julia Wandelt and Karen Spragg, both facing charges related to stalking, confronted Kate McCann at her home, demanding a DNA test and causing distress before being asked to leave.

Wandelt is accused of harassing the McCanns through various means of communication, including messages to Kate and Gerry McCann, as well as Instagram messages to Maddie’s younger siblings, claiming to be the missing girl. Karen Spragg is accused of one count of stalking causing alarm or distress for her actions towards Mr. and Mrs. McCann.

The trial continues as Madeleine’s disappearance in 2007 remains unsolved. Wandelt allegedly made baseless claims suggesting the McCanns’ involvement in their daughter’s disappearance. The prosecution emphasized the distress caused by the defendants’ actions and their unwarranted intrusion into the McCanns’ private lives.

Despite repeated attempts by Wandelt to contact the McCann family and assert her false identity as Madeleine, scientific evidence confirms she has no familial connection to the McCanns. The defendants’ persistence in perpetuating conspiracy theories and distressing the family has been highlighted in court proceedings.

The trial at Leicester Crown Court sheds light on the distressing ordeal faced by the McCann family due to the relentless actions of Wandelt and Spragg. The proceedings aim to bring justice and closure to the family amidst the ongoing mystery surrounding Madeleine’s disappearance.
