New details regarding the alleged gunman at Brown University have been revealed by authorities. The suspect, described as a man dressed entirely in black, entered the Barus and Holley engineering building and initiated gunfire around 4:05 p.m. local time.

At least two individuals have tragically lost their lives, and eight others sustained critical injuries, though they are now in stable condition at the hospital. The perpetrator reportedly fled on foot down Hope Street. The last sighting of the gunman was shortly after 4 p.m. when the initial emergency call was made.

In an announcement, the esteemed Ivy League institution confirmed the two fatalities resulting from the shooting incident at the Barus and Holley engineering building. “There are eight additional victims in critical but stable condition at the hospital. A shelter-in-place order remains in effect as the shooter or shooters have not been apprehended yet. Law enforcement operations are ongoing.”

It is speculated that the suspect may have gained entry with the assistance of individuals inside the building, given the high foot traffic due to final exams. Officials mentioned that most buildings typically require card swipes after hours, but the increased activity during the exam period may have facilitated the suspect’s access.

Authorities reported that no weapons were found following the incident, and the type of firearm used remains unknown.
