Gail’s bakery chain will have ten of its outlets open for business on Christmas Day. Customers visiting these locations on December 25 will receive complimentary mince pies. Additionally, all Gail’s bakeries will operate as usual on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

In an Instagram post, Gail’s mentioned that some of its bakeries will be available for coffee, bread, or a friendly face on Christmas Day. They expressed gratitude by offering a free mince pie to visitors, acknowledging the various ways people celebrate the holiday.

Gail’s recent expansion plans include opening 40 new stores in England, extending beyond London. Over the past year, they launched 36 cafes, including their first establishments in the south west of England. The upcoming 40 stores are scheduled to open by February 2026.

Financially, Gail’s reported a revenue of £278 million for the fiscal year ending in February 2025, a 20% increase from the previous year. Despite the growth, pre-tax losses rose to £7.8 million due to operational expenses and staff costs related to new store openings.

Employing over 4,000 staff members as of February, Gail’s recruitment drive led to an increase of about 500 employees from the previous year. The company also operates a wholesale business that supplies baked goods to supermarkets like Waitrose and Ocado.

Gail’s signature sourdough loaf is priced starting at around £4.80. The bakery chain emphasized the importance of providing innovative food in inviting neighborhood bakeries to remain competitive and sustain growth.

A spokesperson expressed satisfaction with the company’s growth driven by the demand for high-quality food and community support. They affirmed a commitment to expanding purposefully and enhancing access to nutritious food.
