The television market in the UK is predominantly led by Sky and Freeview, but a strong competitor has emerged in the form of Freely, which entered the scene in 2024 and has quickly gained popularity. Over one million households have already switched to Freely, attracted by its expanding features and content offerings.

Since its inception, Freely has enhanced its features and expanded its TV guide to include more than 50 live channels accessible without the need for traditional aerials or satellite dishes.

In a new development, Freely has introduced the Freely Spotlight Channels, providing additional entertainment to households at no extra cost. These channels will be streamed solely through standard Wi-Fi connections.

The Freely Spotlight Channels will be available on channel 31 and channels 90 to 99, accessible to CTV OS partners on Freely-enabled devices. V (formerly VIDAA), the company behind the VIDAA OS smart TV platform in Hisense televisions, is the launch partner, curating a selection of channels for the Freely TV Guide.

These new channels will be integrated alongside established UK broadcasters in the TV guide, offering selected channels increased visibility and credibility within the regulated UK TV landscape.

While the specific content for the Freely Spotlight Channels has not been disclosed, more information is expected to be revealed closer to the launch date.

Commenting on the growth of Freely, Deep Halder, Chief Commercial Officer at Everyone TV, emphasized the platform’s commitment to providing long-term value and opportunities for partners while ensuring easy access to trusted, free TV for UK audiences.

Freely, operated by the team behind Freeview and Freesat, distinguishes itself by delivering all content through broadband, eliminating the need for traditional antennas or complex setups. Users only require a compatible TV or set-top box and a stable Wi-Fi connection to access Freely’s offerings, including over 50 live channels, on-demand content, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the capability to pause live TV.
