In the realm of television viewing, Freeview and Sky stand out as leading contenders. Widely embraced by numerous viewers in the UK, these platforms offer compelling features. Freeview provides free-to-watch content, while Sky grants access to exclusive channels and sports events not found on regular TV services.

Emerging as a notable alternative is the relatively new player, Freely. Introduced last year, Freely diverges from traditional aerial or dish setups by utilizing a broadband connection to deliver content to the television screen. This approach mirrors Sky’s Glass TVs, which also rely on web connectivity.

Moreover, Freely comes integrated into many new TV models, eliminating the need for external set-top boxes or dongles protruding from screens.

Adding to its allure, Channel 4 has announced the launch of three new streaming channels exclusively on Freely. These channels, namely 4Reality, 4Homes, and 4Life, mark Channel 4’s debut streaming platforms in the UK.

Viewers can find 4Reality on channel 67, 4Homes on channel 68, and 4Life on channel 82.

There is speculation that Freely may overshadow Freeview in the future as more individuals transition from conventional TV to streaming services. Notably, Freely is under the ownership of Everyone TV, the same entity behind Freeview.

Grace Boswood, Channel 4’s Director of Technology & Distribution, expressed pride in enhancing Freely’s offerings, emphasizing Channel 4’s advancement into the streaming era as a pioneering public service streamer. Jonathan Thompson, CEO of Everyone TV, also expressed delight in expanding high-quality content offerings through the partnership with Channel 4.

These new channels on Freely provide viewers with a diverse array of content, including reality TV, home-related programs, and real-life stories, catering to a wide range of preferences.
