Formula 1 broadcaster David Croft recently issued a public apology to Sky Sports viewers following the accidental airing of explicit language by a driver during a live TV broadcast. The incident took place during the qualifying session for the Italian Grand Prix when an interview with a frustrated Isack Hadjar was shown.
Hadjar, who had achieved his first F1 podium at Zandvoort the previous weekend, faced disappointment at Monza as he failed to replicate his success during qualifying. Expressing his frustration, Hadjar blamed Carlos Sainz for obstructing his lap, resulting in his early elimination.
During the interview, Hadjar criticized Sainz for impeding his progress on the track, using strong language that was captured by the Sky production team. Croft promptly apologized to the audience for the language used and confirmed that Hadjar would start the upcoming race from the back due to an impending penalty.
The young driver is expected to receive new engine components for the race, surpassing the allowable limit for the season and triggering automatic penalties that will force him to begin the race from the pit lane.
In other qualifying outcomes, Hadjar’s teammate Liam Lawson struggled and ended up at the bottom of the timesheets, while Max Verstappen secured pole position for the Red Bull team. Lando Norris will join Verstappen on the front row, with Charles Leclerc starting fourth and Lewis Hamilton dropping to 10th place due to a penalty.
