Constitution Hill underwent an eye examination at a specialized equine vision center following a series of jumping mishaps. Previously unbeaten in ten starts, the eight-year-old’s performance began to falter in January, culminating in a fall at the Champion Hurdle.

Despite high expectations for a comeback at Aintree, Constitution Hill experienced another tumble. Subsequently, he placed fifth at the Punchestown Champion Hurdle. As the core jumps season nears, his odds stand at 12-1, with The New Lion leading the list.

Nonetheless, the trainer remains positive about Constitution Hill’s condition after thorough assessments. Various tests, including an eye check similar to an equine “Specsavers,” revealed no significant issues. The trainer expressed satisfaction with the horse’s physical fitness and performance during training.

Reflecting on Constitution Hill’s setbacks, the trainer described last season as challenging and heartbreaking. Concerns arise as the horse, known for his exceptional hurdling skills, continues to make uncharacteristic mistakes. The upcoming season will see Constitution Hill participating in races like the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle and the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day.
