Clarkes of Sussex made public through a social media post that its Burgess Hill store in West Sussex would be closing after over four decades, stating that the time had arrived for this decision.

While the exact closing date has not been disclosed, the store is scheduled to cease operations in April, prompting reactions from its dedicated clientele.

Expressing their sentiments, one shopper remarked, “Your shop will be greatly missed. Visiting has always been a delightful experience.” Another added, “This news is truly disheartening.”

A third individual shared, “I have been a patron for many years, and your service has always been exceptional.” Another comment read, “I am saddened to hear this news – your store and staff are truly wonderful.”

Having closed its Brighton branch last year following 25 years of operation, Clarkes of Sussex maintains other stores throughout Sussex, including one in Haywards Heath.

In a separate development, Clarkes in Lewes, under different ownership, is set to close in March.

“After over four decades of serving this wonderful community, and my personal journey of 35 years here, the time has come to close our doors this April,” Patel stated, reflecting on the cherished relationships and memories shared with customers.
