A British traveler was hospitalized following a knifepoint robbery by three assailants while enjoying a cityscape in Lisbon, as per local reports.
The incident took place during the early hours of the day while the man was accompanied by his partner. Sustaining cuts on his arm from the knife, he was swiftly taken to Sao Jose Hospital in the Portuguese capital. The culprits absconded with a gold necklace belonging to the couple.
Reportedly, the assault occurred approximately at 12:40 am today in the proximity of Lisbon’s renowned Miradouro da Graca viewpoint. The specific site was pinpointed as Arco do Graca Street, a frequented area offering extensive vistas of the city’s historic core.
Authorities from Portugal’s Public Security Police are currently conducting an investigation, although no arrests have been made so far. The identities of the British visitors have not been disclosed.
This incident follows the tragic death of an American tourist on October 15 in the coastal town of Cascais, located a 40-minute drive west of Lisbon.
Initially perceived as a failed robbery, the incident was later connected by law enforcement to a street altercation near a nightclub. Subsequently, a 23-year-old suspect was apprehended.
