A young boy sustained severe injuries after being struck by a tram in a suburban area as confirmed by the police. The incident occurred at Brownley Road in Wythenshawe near the Crossacres tram stop, prompting a swift response from law enforcement, paramedics, and fire personnel.

The Greater Manchester Police spokesperson described the occurrence as a “serious incident” involving the tram accident, leading to the immediate hospitalization of the boy with critical and life-altering injuries. Consequently, the Metrolink service to Manchester Airport was halted to facilitate the emergency operation.

Emergency services were swiftly deployed to address the situation at the Crossacres tram stop in Wythenshawe, where the boy was hit by the tram. The scene was marked by the presence of an air ambulance, multiple fire engines, ambulances, and police vehicles responding to the incident.

Eyewitnesses observed paramedics attending to the injured boy at the scene, with road closures on Brownley Road, Crossacres Road, and Poundswick Lane. The Crossacres stop was cordoned off, with a stationary Metrolink tram within the restricted area.

The North West Ambulance Service verified that a young boy was seriously injured in the tram collision, with immediate hospital transportation following the incident. Various emergency resources, including advanced medical staff, an air ambulance, and operational commanders, were dispatched to the scene, which remained active with police and fire services present.

Transport for Greater Manchester confirmed the ongoing emergency response at the Crossacres tram stop and the suspension of tram services between Roundthorn and the Airport. Road closures were enforced in the vicinity, causing bus service diversions. Travel disruptions were anticipated for several hours, with updates available on the TfGM website and social media platforms.
