Anthony Joshua has returned to England following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two individuals. The British heavyweight boxer arrived at London Stansted Airport on Friday night and was subsequently taken to his residence for further recovery, as reported by the Sun.

The funeral for Joshua’s friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, is scheduled to take place at a mosque in London. Close relatives and friends have been invited to a ‘janaza prayer service’ in memory of the departed friends.

Reports suggest that Joshua is uncertain about attending the funeral due to concerns that his presence might overshadow the somber occasion.

Joshua narrowly escaped the fatal accident by switching seats just moments before the journey that tragically ended the lives of his friends. Following the crash, Joshua sustained minor injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. According to his lawyer, the driver claims it was an accident and that the brakes malfunctioned, leading to the tragic outcome.

Kayode, aged 46, was driving Joshua and his companions in a black Lexus Jeep when the collision occurred with a stationary truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. After being discharged from the hospital, Kayode was moved to Abeokuta for further legal proceedings.

Joshua paid his respects to Ghami and Ayodele at a funeral home after his hospital discharge. The bodies of the deceased friends were later transported back to the United Kingdom for their final resting place.

The case against Adeniyi has been adjourned until January 20 for trial, as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
