Donald Trump and his supporters spent several days distorting the tragic events of the Minneapolis shooting, portraying the victim as a “domestic terrorist.” However, recent footage has cast doubt on this narrative.

Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three, had just dropped off her six-year-old son at school before encountering a group of ICE agents. After being shot three times, she collided with a parked vehicle and tragically lost her life on Wednesday. The following 48 hours saw Trump’s allies labeling the victim as someone who had “weaponized her vehicle,” with JD Vance even referring to her death as a “tragedy of her own making,” a sentiment echoed within Trump’s circle.

Despite efforts by the White House to defend the ICE agent involved in the shooting, his own bodycam footage presented a different perspective. The footage, released by online platform Alpha News, showed the ICE agent walking around Ms. Good’s vehicle while filming with his phone, capturing her face and license plate.

In the video, Ms. Good can be heard calmly telling the officer, “That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you.” She then moved her car to make way for other vehicles while the immigration officers continued to question her.

The video revealed a stark contrast between Ms. Good’s composed demeanor and the aggression displayed by the ICE agents, who demanded that she exit the car forcefully. As the footage unfolded, it became evident that when Ms. Good turned her steering wheel to the right, it was away from the ICE agent and not towards him. Subsequently, the federal agent exclaimed “whoa” before firing three shots that reverberated through the stunned onlookers.

In a final disrespectful act towards the woman he had shot, the agent could be heard calling her a derogatory term as her car spiraled out of control and crashed into a parked vehicle.

The release of this video has debunked the narrative put forth by Trump’s supporters over the past two days, attempting to downplay Ms. Good’s death and the subsequent public outcry, particularly in a city still reeling from previous tragic incidents. The global community had reacted strongly after the murder of African American man George Floyd by white police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis in 2020.

The city of Minneapolis has faced verbal attacks from President Trump, who has a history of targeting strong Democratic cities. However, the recent video evidence has spoken louder than Trump’s rhetoric.

During a press conference held on Wednesday, JD Vance criticized the media coverage of the incident, consistently claiming that the mother had deliberately targeted the ICE agent and attempted to run him over. Vice President Vance stated, “You have a woman who aimed her car at a law enforcement officer and pressed on the accelerator.” Trump, supporting the actions of the ICE agent, later commented, “She behaved horribly, and then she ran him over.”

Ms. Good, originally from Colorado Springs, was a renowned poet. Her first husband, who spoke anonymously to the media, described her as a devoted Christian who had participated in a youth mission in Northern Ireland. Her wife, Rebecca Good, paid a heartfelt tribute, describing her as “pure love,” “pure joy,” and “pure sunshine.”

While authorities sought to defend the ICE agent involved in the shooting, the officer’s own footage contradicted their claims. Those close to Ms. Good portrayed her as a compassionate and family-oriented Christian, a stark contrast to the image some MAGA politicians have tried to project while downplaying the tragic death of a young mother.
