A 21-year-old individual faces charges of attempted murder following an incident where a woman was stabbed in the neck in the city center of Birmingham on Friday. Dieison Rafael is also accused of two additional counts of assault and possessing a blade, as confirmed by West Midlands Police.

The assault took place on Smallbrook Queensway, leading to a woman in her 30s sustaining a serious neck wound and being hospitalized. Rafael, identified as a Black British national by authorities, has been detained for a court appearance before magistrates in Birmingham on Monday, November 10.

West Midlands Police are actively seeking more information regarding the incident and the movements of Rafael, who was dressed in an all-grey tracksuit, black hat, trainers, and a rucksack during the event. They urge anyone with relevant details to contact them via 101, quoting log 5503 of 7 November, or submit evidence through the Major Incident Public Portal.

Investigations by officers near the crime scene continued yesterday, November 8, with a police tent still stationed outside the Bullring shopping center. Stay informed with daily updates on the latest news stories by subscribing to our email service.
