Apple has officially announced the forthcoming release of its upcoming operating system, set to debut on devices later this year. Dubbed iOS 26 (not the anticipated iOS 19), the update brings a host of new features and a refreshed interface known as Liquid Glass.

Among the notable changes are the sleek new design, the introduction of Call Screening to block unwanted calls, and automatic removal of spam texts. Popular Apple apps like Maps and Photos are also receiving updates.

One standout addition is the ability to set snooze durations ranging from 1 to 15 minutes, offering users more flexibility with their daily alarms.

While the exact launch date for iOS 26 is unspecified, it is expected to roll out to compatible devices in September. However, Apple has confirmed that the Public Beta will be accessible next month, allowing users to sign up and test the software before its global release.

Apple stated, “New public betas for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, tvOS 26, HomePod software 26, watchOS 26, and AirPods Firmware are coming soon.” Users enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Programme can participate in refining Apple software by trying out pre-release versions and providing feedback.

Interested individuals can sign up for the beta program to explore the new features before the official release. It is advised not to install the beta on primary devices as it may contain bugs and issues that need to be resolved with user feedback.

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, expressed, “iOS 26 shines with the gorgeous new design and meaningful improvements to the features users rely on every day, making iPhone even more helpful.” The update promises enhanced user experiences and personalization, with new Apple Intelligence capabilities integrated throughout the system to streamline tasks.
