A man who believed he was defending humanity from aliens carried out a horrific beheading and cannibalization of a soon-to-be father. The victim, Tim McLean, a Canadian carnival worker, was peacefully traveling to meet his pregnant girlfriend in Winnipeg when the attacker, Vincent Weiguang Li, entered the bus. Li initially appeared agitated but then sat quietly at the front before moving to sit next to Tim at the back of the bus. Suddenly, Li launched a violent attack on Tim, resulting in a chaotic scene where body parts were found in Li’s possession.
Despite attempts by a young veteran and the bus driver to intervene, Li continued his assault on Tim, culminating in a gruesome display of eating flesh in front of horrified onlookers. Law enforcement eventually subdued Li after a struggle, during which he claimed to be following instructions from a divine entity to protect people from an alien threat. Li was subsequently deemed not criminally responsible due to mental illness and was placed in a mental health facility.
The victim’s family expressed ongoing pain and difficulty in coping with the tragedy, emphasizing that the perpetrator’s mental state did not diminish the impact of his actions. In a surprising turn, Li later changed his name and was granted freedom from close monitoring, prompting mixed reactions from the public. Despite the tragedy, Tim’s legacy lives on through his son, born after the horrific incident, bringing some solace to his grieving mother.
