An Air India Express flight was compelled to conduct an emergency landing today due to a bomb threat mid-flight. The aircraft, carrying 176 passengers from Mumbai to Varanasi, raised concerns at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi. After landing safely, the plane was promptly moved to an isolated area.

A bomb disposal team thoroughly searched the aircraft but did not discover any suspicious items. An Air India Express spokesperson stated, “One of our flights to Varanasi received a security threat. Following protocol, immediate alerts were raised, and all required security measures were swiftly implemented. The flight landed without incident, and all passengers have been safely evacuated. The aircraft will resume operations once all necessary security checks are completed.”

In a separate incident earlier today, IndiGo airline experienced a similar threat when an email was sent warning of potential bombings at five airports nationwide. High security alerts were issued at major airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad.

The government-appointed Bomb Threat Assessment Committee is currently investigating the threatening email.

Air India Express, a budget airline owned by Air India, focuses on domestic and short- to medium-haul international routes, distinguishing itself from its full-service counterpart.
