Rachel Reeves has strongly criticized Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party, labeling it as the primary threat to working individuals in the UK. The Chancellor expressed concerns that if the right-wing group were to come into power in the upcoming general election, it would cause division within communities and families. Reeves also raised alarm by suggesting that the party, led by the former Ukip leader, has connections with Vladimir Putin, contrasting it with the government’s stance alongside global allies.

During her address at the Labour conference, Reeves emphasized the dangers posed by Nigel Farage and the Reform party to the lifestyle and living standards of working-class people. She highlighted the party’s propagation of falsehoods, simplistic solutions, and willingness to sow discord among communities and families, asserting that they do not have the interests of working people at heart. Reeves called for a collective effort to confront and defeat this challenge.

In response to Keir Starmer’s condemnation of Reform’s proposals to strip essential rights from migrants, branding them as racist and unethical, Reeves reiterated her stance. Addressing her critics on the left who advocate for increased spending, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming Budget in November, the Chancellor pushed back. She dismissed the notion that fiscal constraints should be disregarded, emphasizing the importance of financial prudence amid challenging global economic conditions. Reeves reaffirmed her commitment to upholding the trust bestowed upon the government by the British populace.
