Following a disturbing incident at a birthday party, a man sought refuge in a pub after suffering a severe injury where his hand was reportedly severed.

In response to a call, authorities arrived at The Stanley Arms pub in Huyton, Merseyside, around 12:20 am on Saturday, where it was alleged that the victim had been assaulted at a nearby residence before seeking help at the pub across the street.

Witnesses described the man entering the pub just as it was about to close, with his hand visibly severed. Reports suggested that an 18th birthday party had taken place at the adjacent house the night before, indicated by a banner on the front door.

Merseyside Police stated that the man sustained a potentially life-altering injury, while a 17-year-old girl also suffered a minor hand injury during the same altercation. An eyewitness recounted the man entering the pub with what appeared to be a severe injury to his arm.

An investigation has been launched by the police, and evidence of blood was observed at the property’s entrance. An 18-year-old suspect has been apprehended on suspicion of causing serious bodily harm with intent and wounding with intent.

The suspect is currently in custody, while the injured man is receiving medical care in the hospital. Law enforcement has maintained a significant presence at the location, conducting forensic examinations in and around the premises.

The pub, temporarily closed for cleaning on Saturday, witnessed a chaotic scene with blood present as the man rushed in just before closing time.

A representative for The Stanley Arms confirmed that they assisted an individual with a severe injury after closing hours on Friday night, prompting an emergency response and medical attention for the injured party.

In an official statement, Merseyside Police appealed for information regarding the assault at Huyton, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident and urging the public to come forward with any relevant details.

Detective Inspector Graeme Osborne highlighted the severity of the assault involving a bladed weapon, expressing the need for cooperation from witnesses to assist in the investigation and potentially prevent similar incidents in the future.

Individuals with information are encouraged to contact Merseyside Police via social media, website reporting, or phone, with anonymity options available through Crimestoppers.

Efforts to obtain updates from Merseyside Police on the ongoing investigation are underway.
