A woman was tragically attacked by a crocodile while bathing in the Kharasrota River in Eastern India. The shocking incident was witnessed by horrified onlookers as the reptile dragged the 57-year-old victim into the water. Despite efforts from villagers and authorities, the rescue mission was unsuccessful, and the woman, identified as Soudamini Mahala, remains missing.

According to local reports, the attack occurred on Monday afternoon when the woman was unexpectedly pulled into the river by the crocodile. Responding swiftly, police and fire department teams initiated a search operation in the river, but the victim’s body has not been found as of Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses described the distressing scene, with one witness mentioning the failed attempts to rescue the woman from the crocodile’s grasp. Authorities are continuing the search in the river and advising caution to residents near water bodies prone to crocodile activity. A video capturing the tragic event has circulated on social media, raising concerns about river safety.

This tragic incident follows another fatal crocodile attack in India, where a mother-of-three was killed while fishing near the Gobari River. In a separate incident on September 19, the woman, identified as Laxmi Dalei, was attacked by a crocodile and dragged into the water. Despite efforts from locals, the attack was fatal.

The region, known for its crocodile population, poses risks to individuals near water bodies. Officials emphasized the importance of avoiding crocodile habitats to ensure public safety.
