Hundreds of individuals gathered to pay their respects to Mark, Louise, and Evan O’Connor, a family tragically murdered in their home in Co Louth. The bodies of Mark, 54, Louise, 56, and Evan, 27, were discovered with signs of violence. Robert O’Connor, their 31-year-old son, has been charged with their murders.

The joint Funeral Mass took place at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dundalk, with Fr Gerry Campbell leading the service. Mourners wore odd socks as a tribute to Evan’s unique character and donated to causes supported by the family. The North East Runners AC honored the O’Connor family with a guard of honor.

Cian, the surviving son, gave an emotional tribute during the service, celebrating the rich lives his family lived. He fondly remembered his mother’s warmth and kindness, highlighting her selfless nature and plans to help the elderly in Africa. Cian also praised his father’s sacrifices for Evan and his involvement in the local running community.

Fr Campbell reflected on the tragedy that had deeply impacted the community, praising Mark’s integrity, Louise’s compassion, and Evan’s joyful spirit. The service featured symbolic tributes to each family member, representing their passions and personalities.

The community came together to mourn the loss of the O’Connor family and celebrate the love and light they brought to the world.
