A man from the UK, known as a “traitor” by some, has publicly renounced his British citizenship by setting fire to his passport in a video filled with strong language. Aiden Minnis, aged 38 and hailing from Chippenham in Wiltshire, appeared in a video that is perceived as pro-Kremlin propaganda. In the video, Minnis, who previously declared his disdain for his homeland, stated his rejection of his British passport due to new laws that allow the government to strip citizenship from individuals involved in activities deemed harmful to the country.
Displaying his British passport in front of a Russian flag, Minnis declared his rejection of it and voiced explicit sentiments towards Great Britain. He then proceeded to symbolically discard the passport by setting it on fire and later fired a rifle in the air. Despite obtaining a Russian internal ID document, which does not grant travel rights, Minnis remains vulnerable to legal consequences in the UK, including potential prosecution, imprisonment, or extradition. He had previously expressed his intention to continue causing harm to individuals he perceived as enemies, including Ukrainians and English mercenaries.
Minnis, a former drug addict who has shown allegiance to Russia and its leadership, swiftly obtained Russian citizenship with the assistance of Kremlin-affiliated media and politicians from the Udmurtia region. Referred to as a “Z Patriot” and a member of the Russian army, Minnis has faced criticism and legal threats in the UK for his radical views and actions. Despite being honored by the Russian army and expressing his readiness to sacrifice for President Putin, Minnis has been disowned by his family, who have distanced themselves from his extreme beliefs.
In an interview with a Russian media outlet, Minnis described his involvement in frontline activities during the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, highlighting the constant dangers and challenges faced by soldiers in the region. He expressed sorrow over the loss of comrades in combat, emphasizing the emotional toll of witnessing their sacrifices. Minnis’ actions and statements have generated controversy and condemnation, with authorities in the UK monitoring his activities closely to prevent any potential threats posed by his radical ideology.
