A woman who fled her home as a teenager has become engaged to a police officer who was involved in the search for her more than a decade later. Roshin Ali left her home in Jackson, Tennessee, at 13, fearing for her life due to her father. Tyler Schrupp, a 26-year-old officer at the time, was part of the search team looking for her.
Despite her return home the next day, ending the search, Tyler never met Roshin during the investigation. It wasn’t until 12 years later when Roshin started working at the local sheriff’s department that they crossed paths and became colleagues.
Now 28, Roshin mentioned that Tyler couldn’t stop looking at her but was too nervous to speak to her, admiring her beauty. After connecting and sharing her past trauma with Tyler, they discovered their shared history, leading to a deeper bond.
Tyler, speaking to the New York Post, reflected on the realization of their past connection and how surreal it was to now be engaged after falling in love. The couple welcomed a son in August last year, with a viral TikTok video showcasing their unique story.
In response to criticisms suggesting grooming allegations, Roshin shared a series of videos detailing the traumatic events that led to her escape in 2010. Her father’s threatening behavior, involving violence and gambling addiction, prompted her and her siblings to flee the house, leading to police involvement and their placement in foster care.
Roshin expressed gratitude for the police officers’ role in saving them and acknowledged Tyler as her hero. The couple plans to marry next year, celebrating their journey from a past search mission to a shared future.
