The conclusion of the Labour conference was celebrated at The Mirror’s renowned event where Cabinet members, MPs, political personnel, and reporters relaxed following a hectic period in Liverpool. The evening commenced with an emotional performance by Justice Minister Alex Davies-Jones singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” alongside Hillsborough activists.

Margaret Aspinall, a strong advocate affected by the 1989 Hillsborough tragedy, delivered a moving speech urging the swift passage of a new law to prevent cover-ups without dilution. The atmosphere later transitioned to karaoke, featuring Cabinet members Wes Streeting and Lisa Nandy energetically performing Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” Mr. Streeting also took the stage to sing “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.”

The Mirror’s party at the Labour conference witnessed various engaging performances, including Health Secretary Wes Streeting, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, and former shadow minister Jonathan Ashworth, who dazzled in a sequinned blazer while singing Oasis’ hit. Housing Secretary Steve Reed sported a ‘Build, Baby, Build’ cap inspired by Trump and performed Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.”

Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden were visibly delighted as they participated in the festivities. The event was further enriched by the presence of The Mirror’s iconic chicken mascot, with Health Secretary Wes Streeting even posing for a photo with it.

Editor Caroline Waterston warmly welcomed guests to The Mirror’s annual post-Prime Minister’s speech tradition, co-hosted with InHouse Communications and featuring drinks provided by Diageo. The vibrant atmosphere continued with various performances, including Sophie Huskisson’s rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and Mikey Smith’s energetic performance of Green Day’s “American Idiot.”

Notable figures in attendance included Jonathan Ashworth, who enthusiastically embraced the lively ambiance while donning a striking gold sequinned blazer. Guests like The FT’s Jim Pickard and Sky News’ Beth Rigby immersed themselves in the festivities, contributing to a memorable night at The Mirror’s celebratory event.
