Cabinet members Wes Streeting and Lisa Nandy delivered a spirited performance of Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back in Anger” at the renowned Mirror party during the Labour Party Conference. Alongside former shadow minister Jonathan Ashworth, the frontbenchers showcased their karaoke skills on stage.

The evening commenced with Justice minister Alex Davies-Jones moving the audience with a heartfelt rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” supported by Hillsborough campaigners. Margaret Aspinall, who lost her son James in the tragic 1989 incident, passionately advocated for a new law to prevent cover-ups without dilution.

The annual event, organized in collaboration with InHouse Communications and featuring drinks by Diageo, is a tradition following the Prime Minister’s keynote address. Attendees were treated to a variety of performances, with Mr. Streeting and Labour MP Oliver Ryan singing “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” while MPs and political personnel took the stage for lively acts.

Labour MP Mark Ferguson tackled Pulp’s “Common People,” Housing Secretary Steve Reed belted out “Sweet Caroline,” and MPs Jen Craft and Christian Wakeford rocked out to Wheatus’ “Teenage Dirtbag.” The Mirror’s Mikey Smith led a spirited rendition of Green Day’s “American Idiot.”

The conference center in Liverpool was packed with hundreds of guests who reveled into the early hours of the morning. The iconic Mirror Chicken, known for engaging with politicians over the years, showcased its dance moves at the event.

The festive gathering followed Keir Starmer’s keynote speech, where he pledged to confront Nigel Farage, although Starmer was not present at the party.
