Apple has introduced a new Self Service Repair option that allows users to fix their iPad at home. This initiative aims to extend the lifespan of Apple products and reduce electronic waste. Users can now purchase official spare parts, tools, and manuals to repair components like displays, batteries, cameras, and charging ports on their own.

Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare, stated that the goal is to create durable products that last longer. The self-repair program is expanding to include various iPad models, such as iPad Air (M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16).

This new self-repair service is part of Apple’s broader efforts to provide repair options to customers. Currently, there are 65 Apple products that can be fixed without specialist intervention, including the iPhone 16e, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio. Apple has also increased its repair network by collaborating with professional service providers to offer genuine parts, tools, and training.

The Self Service Repair for iPads will be available starting May 29 in the UK and Europe, providing users with more flexibility and control over the maintenance of their devices.
