Journalist Owen Jones has been ejected from the Labour conference due to safety concerns, with the party justifying the decision as a safeguarding issue. A known supporter of Jeremy Corbyn, Jones criticized Labour for what he called “Trump-like behavior,” expressing surprise at having his pass revoked for the first time. In a statement, Jones condemned the party’s actions, accusing them of attempting to stifle questions regarding Britain’s involvement in facilitating what he termed as Israel’s genocide.

In response to Jones’ removal, the Labour party explained its stance in an email to the journalist, emphasizing the need to ensure the safety and well-being of all conference attendees. The party stated that after careful consideration, they determined that allowing Jones to continue attending would compromise their safeguarding responsibilities to all participants.

While Jones will not be present at the current conference, the Labour party has indicated that he can reapply for a pass in the following years. This decision was made with the intention of prioritizing the safety and welfare of all individuals involved.
