Two Air Canada employees were apprehended by the RCMP for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking activities at Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport. The federal police revealed that the arrests were made following an investigation that began in May, which led to the interception of 62.5 kilograms of cocaine and 56 kilograms of cannabis. The suspects, who hold different ground operations positions at Air Canada, are believed to have conspired to move luggage through secure airport areas to facilitate drug importation and exportation.
The RCMP executed search warrants at two residences and a vehicle in the greater Montreal area, along with searching the suspects’ work base in Dorval, Quebec, in collaboration with Air Canada. The investigation was initiated after the interception of cocaine hidden in backpacks from a flight originating from Punta Cana. The two arrested individuals are expected to be questioned and released pending further legal proceedings. Air Canada has suspended the employees in question pending the ongoing investigation.
