The Canadian pair of Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson clinched the bronze medal in the Montreal Elite16 beach volleyball tournament held on home turf. They triumphed over Germany’s Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann with a score of 20-22, 21-12, and 18-16 to secure a spot on the podium. Wilkerson led the charge with an impressive 32 attack points, 5 block points, and a serve point, while Humana-Paredes contributed 9 attack points.

The match experienced a temporary halt due to adverse weather conditions before resuming play. Despite a setback in the semifinals, where they were defeated by Brazil’s Thamela Galil and Victoria Tosta, the Canadian duo bounced back to claim the bronze against the same German opponents.

In the men’s event, Canada’s Sam Schachter and Jonathan Pickett staged a remarkable comeback to seize the bronze medal by defeating Norway’s Hendrik Mol and Mathias Berntsen. After dropping the opening set, they rallied to win the next two sets, marking their first joint podium finish on home soil. The Canadian pair had earlier caused an upset by defeating the world No. 1 team to reach the semifinals. Though they fell short in the semis, losing to Brazil’s Renato Andrew Lima de Carvalho and André Loyola Stein, their bronze medal victory was a significant achievement in front of their home crowd.
