Israeli airstrikes in a southern Lebanese town resulted in the deaths of at least 11 individuals, including two children and two medics, as reported by Lebanon’s state news agency. The intensified bombardment by Israel in southern Lebanon occurred despite a ceasefire established in June to cease hostilities between the Israeli military and Hezbollah. On Sunday, at least seven individuals lost their lives due to Israeli strikes.
During the early hours of Monday, Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building in Kfar Rumman, a town in southern Lebanon, leading to the deaths of nine people, including two children, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency. Additionally, a separate Israeli drone strike on a civilian vehicle in the town claimed the lives of two medics inside the car.
The Health Ministry of Lebanon stated that one of the strikes hit a building, resulting in the deaths of eight people, including a child and two women. Furthermore, 11 individuals were wounded, including four children and two women, as reported by The Associated Press.
Notably, the strikes on the town occurred without prior online evacuation warnings issued by the Israeli military. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to inquiries regarding the strikes, including whether they were aware of the presence of children and medics at the strike sites and the reasons behind the lack of evacuation warnings.
In a separate incident, an Israeli military spokesperson issued an evacuation warning for areas surrounding a building in another town in southern Lebanon, indicating an impending strike on Hezbollah facilities.
Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have resulted in over 4,300 fatalities since Hezbollah initiated rocket attacks on Israel on March 2, following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran. Despite a significant decrease in violence following the ceasefire, Israeli forces have continued demolishing villages in the self-declared security zone in southern Lebanon. Israel’s military has persisted in conducting strikes both within the security zone and to the north, often without providing evacuation warnings.
