An airstrike conducted by Israel claimed the lives of two individuals in the central Gaza Strip on Sunday, as per health officials. The strike, which occurred near a bakery in Deir al-Balah, resulted in the deaths of three-year-old Tayyem Hamdan and Hussam Nusair, along with injuries to several others.
According to Gaza medics, the Israeli military stated that the attack targeted and eliminated a Hamas militant, Nusair, who was allegedly involved in launching attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. Hamas has yet to respond to the military’s accusations.
Despite a ceasefire backed by the U.S. last October, violence in the region persists. The Israeli military continues to conduct strikes, citing the need to prevent attacks by Hamas and other Gaza militants. Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire agreement, hindering the implementation of a broader peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which includes Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.
Since the ceasefire came into effect, over 1,300 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza, as reported by Gazan health officials. In contrast, the Israeli military claims that four Israeli soldiers have been killed during the same period.
