A powerful tornado struck the village of Pomas in southern France, causing extensive damage to over 300 homes and injuring dozens of people. Fortunately, there have been no reports of missing individuals. The Aude prefecture reported that 1,400 households were still without power on Tuesday morning. The tornado was captured on video swirling above the village of Verzeille, located a few kilometers east of Pomas, with many homes having their windows shattered.
In the aftermath of the tornado, residents are assessing the damage and beginning cleanup efforts. Images show a man standing among the debris of a damaged house in Pomas, the collapsed roof of Saint Julien et Sainte Basilisse church, fallen trees in a cemetery, and individuals covering damaged roofs with tarps. Additionally, pedestrians are seen walking past a toppled tree near the damaged homes in Pomas.
