A tragic incident occurred in western Alaska as a charter aircraft carrying eight individuals crashed at a remote radar site, resulting in the loss of all passengers on board. The U.S. military confirmed the crash at the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site Airport, located about 725 kilometers west of Anchorage, Alaska.

U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Robert Davis expressed sorrow over the devastating loss, emphasizing the impact on the military family and surrounding communities. The radar site, overseen by the Pacific Air Forces Regional Support Center, is part of a network monitoring aircraft movements in Alaska’s airspace and border regions.

The aircraft involved was described as a “civilian-contracted aircraft,” with no specific details provided about the occupants’ activities. The passengers, consisting of two pilots and six individuals, were dedicated professionals engaged in a crucial mission within a challenging environment.

The Cessna 441 plane had departed from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport en route to Cape Newenham, according to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski extended condolences following the tragic event and noted the involvement of Security Aviation, a charter company based in Anchorage that operated the flight.

Security Aviation, the company responsible for the flight, has not yet commented on the crash despite queries from news sources. The community, including Alaskans and the aviation industry, mourns the loss and offers support to the families and colleagues affected by this unfortunate incident.
