Motorists are encountering heavy traffic congestion on a major motorway today due to a crash, resulting in the closure of two lanes. The M6 motorway in Greater Manchester is experiencing increasing traffic with two lanes closed on the northbound carriageway between junctions 25 at Wigan and 26 at the Orrell Interchange.

According to Inrix, a traffic monitoring service, two lanes are closed on the M6 Northbound from J25 to J26, causing queueing traffic. The congestion extends back to junction 24 at Ashton-in-Makerfield as per Google traffic data.

The lanes have since been reopened following the morning crash. Inrix has provided an update stating that traffic conditions are slow due to the accident with two lanes closed.

National Highways has announced that delays are expected until around 10:30 am today, with normal traffic conditions anticipated by 10:30 am. A National Highways image displays heavy congestion on the M6 this morning where two lanes remain closed due to a police incident.

Travelers near the Orrell Interchange have been cautioned about extended congestion lasting until approximately 8:45 am because of the crash. Furthermore, southbound drivers are facing delays near the crash scene, particularly around junction 23 at the East Lancs Road and approaching junction 21A at the M62.

In summary, motorists on the M6 in Greater Manchester are experiencing delays this morning due to a crash, resulting in the closure of two lanes on the northbound carriageway between junctions 25 and 26.
