Reform UK’s major contributor faces criticism for suggesting that young people should consider relocating to Dubai, sparking accusations of a lack of patriotism. Charlie Mullins, known for his support of a project aiding individuals to move overseas, stated that the UK does not offer a promising future.

Public records reveal Mullins donated £40,000 to Reform UK before the general election and expressed interest in returning to the UK to represent the party. Previously, calls were made to revoke his OBE following controversial remarks about Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London.

Labour chair Anna Turley MP condemned Mullins’ statements, highlighting the contrast between talking negatively about the country and actively working to improve it. Mullins suggested on Twitter a program to facilitate UK youngsters relocating to Dubai for better prospects and safety.

In response to the backlash, Labour MP Rosie Wrighting criticized Mullins for encouraging British youth to move abroad, emphasizing the importance of promoting Britain’s strengths. Mullins, who cited a Labour tax policy as a reason for leaving the UK, expressed intentions to engage in public service opportunities.

Notably, Mullins faced scrutiny for previous comments, leading to concerns about the potential revocation of his OBE. Despite explaining his remarks as politically motivated, he divested his business interests for a substantial sum in 2021. Requests for comments from Mullins and Reform UK are pending.
