A fan known for enthusiastically supporting tennis player Emma Raducanu at the Australian Open was ejected from the tournament for being too disruptive. The fan, James Bray, gained attention after Raducanu acknowledged his vocal support during her match. Despite this recognition, Bray’s behavior during another match led to his removal from the event after being deemed excessively rowdy.
Bray, donning an ‘Australia’ tank top, affectionately referred to as ‘Raddo’ by Raducanu, was asked to leave while cheering for another player on a subsequent day. He documented the incident on social media, showing police officers instructing him to depart for 24 hours and issuing a fine. Despite the setback, Bray sarcastically acknowledged his removal, stating his amusement at the situation.
After being escorted out of the venue, Bray expressed disappointment at being asked to leave despite what he perceived as respectful behavior. Tennis Australia confirmed Bray had received warnings before his expulsion, citing disruptive behavior as the reason for his removal. Victoria Police reported multiple evictions from the tournament grounds for various incidents but praised overall crowd behavior at the Australian Open.
