British boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a car crash in Nigeria that resulted in two fatalities. The incident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway when Joshua’s Jeep collided with a stationary truck. Joshua sustained minor injuries and is currently hospitalized.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed the accident and stated that Joshua was en route to the hospital with minor injuries. Local reports indicated that Joshua was traveling in a convoy with two other vehicles, a Pajero SUV and a Lexus SUV, at the time of the crash.
Eyewitnesses reported that Joshua was seated in the back of the Lexus SUV during the accident. Sadly, two individuals in the vehicle lost their lives. The crash occurred after Joshua’s vehicle swerved into the truck due to a burst tire, according to authorities.
Despite the incident, Joshua is reported to be in stable condition and is being treated for his injuries. Images from the scene showed Joshua standing, and local police confirmed that he is “fine” following the crash.
Joshua, who recently won an exhibition fight in Miami, Florida, had been in Nigeria, his parents’ homeland, before the accident. He has been recovering from his fight with Jake Paul and is looking forward to future bouts, including a potential match against Tyson Fury.
The ongoing investigation into the crash is being led by local authorities, with further updates expected as more details emerge.
