A woman in Florida, who entered into a relationship with her mother’s partner after her mother passed away from breast cancer, fatally stabbed him following their marriage. Danielle Redlick admitted to killing her spouse and former stepfather, Michael Redlick, in self-defense on January 11, 2019. Despite her claims, her daughter expressed concerns for her brother’s safety, describing Danielle as someone who wears a deceptive facade. At 22, Danielle began a romantic involvement with Michael, who was 39 at the time, citing their bond strengthening after her mother’s death from an aggressive form of breast cancer.
Michael started frequenting the bar where Danielle worked after her mother’s demise, which led to the development of their relationship. Initially, Danielle found him intriguing due to his worldly knowledge, but their connection evolved into a romantic affair. Tragically, their relationship took a fatal turn when Danielle fatally stabbed her former stepfather-turned-husband. Danielle gave conflicting accounts of Michael’s death, initially attributing it to a heart attack before admitting to the stabbing.
Despite not being convicted of second-degree murder, Danielle was sentenced to a year of probation for tampering with evidence by cleaning the crime scene. Her adult daughter, Jadyn, urged prosecutors to enforce a no-contact order to protect herself and her brother from their mother’s influence. Jadyn highlighted Danielle’s manipulative and toxic behavior, expressing deep concerns for their safety. Danielle alleged that Michael was abusive, but prosecutors revealed that she was active on a dating site while her husband lay dead.
Following the murder, Danielle did not seek help for Michael or make any life-saving attempts. She later attempted suicide and called emergency services. Jadyn testified during the trial, portraying her mother as toxic and manipulative, the main source of negativity in their relationship. Despite serving time in jail, Danielle was released in 2022, with support from ministry volunteers who vouched for her character.
