Double Cold Weather Payments have been distributed to certain households this week following snowfall in various parts of the UK.

These Cold Weather Payments, valued at £25 each, are granted whenever the temperature in your area drops to zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. Multiple payments are possible if there are repeated periods of freezing weather.

Currently, 18 postcode areas have qualified for two Cold Weather Payments, totaling £50, triggered on December 30 and January 6. The eligible postcode areas include:

The Mirror recently disclosed that a total of 451 postcode areas are eligible for Cold Weather Payments this year. Individuals receiving specific benefits or mortgage support are entitled to these payments.

If you are entitled to a payment, it will be automatically deposited into your bank account within 14 working days. Exceptions include cases where there is a baby in the household or a child under the age of five moves in.

Administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the Cold Weather Payments program will be operational until March 31, 2026.

Notably, Cold Weather Payments are not available in Scotland, as they have been replaced by the Winter Heating Payment, worth £59.75.
