Millions of individuals will receive their benefit payments ahead of schedule this week from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Various benefits like Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, and state pension may be affected based on recipients’ usual payment dates.

If your payment is due on Thursday, Christmas Day, or Boxing Day, you can expect to receive it earlier than usual on Christmas Eve since DWP payments are not issued on bank holidays.

In the event of an early payment, it is important to budget accordingly until the next scheduled payment, such as receiving benefits on December 31 if due on January 1.

In case you do not receive your expected benefit payment, reach out to the relevant office online, by phone, or your local JobCentre upon their reopening.

Note that helplines will be closed on bank holidays, necessitating contact on the following working day.

Most benefits are disbursed by the DWP, while Tax Credits and Child Benefit are handled by HMRC, with Child Benefit payments typically unaffected by Christmas bank holidays.

A comprehensive list of common benefit payments and their typical payment frequencies is provided below for reference.
