Nigel Farage is facing calls to clarify recent allegations of racist and antisemitic behavior made by former classmates from his time at Dulwich College in south London. The Reform UK leader has been accused of making pro-Hitler remarks, joking about gas chambers, and discriminating against individuals based on their skin color.

Peter Ettedgui, a Bafta- and Emmy-winning director and producer, recounted instances where Farage allegedly expressed support for Hitler and made disturbing gas chamber references during their time at school. However, a spokesperson for Reform UK has vehemently denied these claims, dismissing them as an attempt to tarnish Farage’s reputation and the party.

Ettedgui, whose grandparents fled Nazi Germany, expressed shock at the verbal abuse he witnessed from Farage, including derogatory terms used towards other students. Additionally, another former pupil mentioned Farage teaching songs about gassing Jews during their involvement in a youth organization.

Further testimonies from individuals who attended school with Farage recounted his use of Nazi salutes, chants, and songs glorifying the gas chambers. These accounts have raised concerns, leading to demands for explanations from politicians like Anna Turley of the Labour Party and Lib Dem MP Josh Babarinde.

Hope not Hate’s Director of Campaigns, Georgina Laming, emphasized the need for accountability, stating that Farage’s history of intolerant views is consistent with the recent allegations. The ongoing scrutiny surrounding Farage’s past conduct has prompted a renewed call for transparency and an acknowledgment of responsibility.

The controversy surrounding Farage’s alleged behavior during his school years has sparked a broader discussion on political figures’ accountability and the impact of past actions on current perceptions. The unfolding developments are likely to continue shaping the public discourse as the political landscape evolves.
