A woman, aged 42, was discovered in a critical condition, on the brink of death, allegedly confined in her room for 27 years by her parents. Known only as Mirrella, she was last seen in public in 1998 at the age of 15 in Świętochłowice, southern Poland. Her absence led the community to believe she had disappeared, but decades later, she was found, never having sought dental or hair care during that time.

The unsettling revelation occurred in July when police responded to a disturbance at an apartment building following neighbor complaints. Deputy Inspector Anna Hryniak stated that the 82-year-old landlady denied any altercations. Mirrella initially downplayed the situation when approached by the police but was promptly provided medical attention due to her injuries. The community has since come together to support her recovery through a fundraising effort.

A local individual shared on social media that doctors indicated she was near death from an infection and has been hospitalized for two months due to her critical state. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter to uncover more details. Mirrella’s extended isolation has left many questions unanswered, emphasizing the importance of revealing the circumstances behind her confinement and disappearance.

It is incomprehensible to endure such prolonged isolation in one room, as Mirrella expressed never witnessing the development of her city or experiencing simple activities like visiting a doctor or taking a stroll. Her neglected dental and hair health now require urgent attention at a private clinic, posing a threat to her well-being.

Prosecutor Agnieszka Kwatera confirmed the launch of an investigation into the case.
